Agenda for the Webinar

On the 29th of April the Sustainable Development Working Group will convene for a ‘Beyond the 2030 Agenda’ webinar.

Context

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all UN members in 2015, put in motion 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aimed at fostering ‘peace and prosperity for people and the planet” by 2030. As we approach this critical milestone, significant questions remain about our progress toward the SDGs and what comes next.

The upcoming session will reflect on key takeaways from the Summit for the Future, assess our current position in the sustainability transition, and explore potential targets for the post-2030 era. We will also examine the main obstacles hindering progress, including geopolitical tensions, trade wars, and the erosion of the rules-based world order.

This is an excellent opportunity for our council members to exchange their ideas on how advisory councils can help shape the post-2030 sustainable development field.

Speakers

Chaired by our co-chairs Gábor Bartus and Katriina Siivonen, the session will feature the following distinguished speakers:

  • Csaba Kőrösi - Ambassador, former co-chair of the UN Open Working Group on SDGs and former President of the UN General Assembly

  • Marianne Beisheim - Senior Associate, Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik/ German Institute for International and Security Affairs

  • Miriam Rosa González - Coordinator for International Affairs at German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE)

Additional Information

While this session is not open to the public, we are excited to share key takeaways and insights to further inspire discussions on sustainable development.

Keep an eye out on our website and LinkedIn for future updates.
